Dumroot is a traditional home-made sweet dish popular among Tanjore Muslims. It used to be baked in an oven heated over a bed of sand. Nowadays it is baked in a convection oven. My grandmother used to bake this on our visits. Ingredients 200 gm Semolina 1 cup fine Sugar 1/2 cup Ghee 1 Egg 1/4 tin condensed milk 10 gm cashew nuts Preparation: Melt the ghee and cool it. Add 2tbsp of ghee in pan roast the cashew nuts and keep aside. Then add the semolina and fry it (do not brown it) Beat the egg and sugar well then add the condensed milk, fried semolina, ghee and nuts Place in the oven and bake at 220 degrees for an hour. Check with the toothpick, until the toothpick inserted comes out clean and the top layer is browned. Wait for some time to cool it down. Cheers, Subuhani Rahman (Follow me)
